About the event

I'm writing this one for me.

"I sat down today, trying to decide which event I wanted to add to Erstwhile's list of offerings for May. The most obvious answer was to do a Mother's Day event. Something catered to all of the loving, supportive, beautiful Mothers out there. I started to write it. I put together a beautiful graphic and I even decided on the theme, "Seeing the Woman & Honoring the mother". Then I started to sculpt out the content, trying and failing to connect with it. Drawing on my relationship with my own Mother, who I adore. But something felt hollow in it. I can't sit in a room filled with women who have children and pretend to be able to hold that space for them. I am not a mother. I have never had children. I will likely never have them. So, I set sail in a new direction, with renewed purpose. What class do I need right now? What theme would help heal ME? What space can I hold? So here it is, if this content resonates with you, then I am so incredibly sorry, and I SEE you. If it doesn't, then I'm happy for you, but this is simply not the right event for you, and that's okay. "   - Amber Smith, Owner of Erstwhile Studios

For those who should have been Mothers

Listen, we're probably going to cry. We're probably going to feel so many feelings. I spend each Mother's Day reaching out to all of the mothers in my life and feeling incredibly insecure about the fact that I can't have children. I'm a single 33 year old woman living with PCOS, ADHD, Anxiety, & Depression and I am desperately trying to find my tribe. A community of women who hold space for one another, who support and rally around one another. I want you to have that too. I want you to know that you are not alone and that there is a vast community of wild women who have so much love and so much compassion to give. Let us hold space for each other while we all try to heal the parts that have spent so long being left broken.

This class will involve a guided meditation, created by Amber to heal not only the shame and the guilt tied to not being allowed to be a mother, but also the body. We will dive deep and talk with the parts of our bodies that feel broken and encourage them to heal. Amber will also be using her gifts as a Reiki Master to send healing energy to the areas of the body where healing is needed most. This will be a deeply emotional and healing experience.

What is The Wild Woman Project?

The Wild Woman Project is at once a philosophy (an invigorating approach to life as a wondrous, often messy, creative project) & a growing movement of courageous, creative, heart centered (often weird & wonderful) women on a mission to remember, to reimagine what it means to be a woman – untamed.

Founded by: Chris Maddox

What is our Mission?

To awaken women to their most authentic, undomesticated nature, so they may feel like themselves, all the time, no apologies.
