To our Siouxland Tribe we just wanted to take a few moments to let you know how much we are thinking of all of you and hoping you are all staying healthy and safe. I also wanted to share few pearls of wisdom or nonsense, however you want to look at it.
In the Daily news there are so many things we cannot control, coronavirus being at the top of the list. We have all been told to stock up, practice social distance, wash our hands and keep our hands away from our face, common sense really but also keep in mind some businesses have already closed and some are struggling to stay open so show them some love when you can. Most of them have a policy in place to keep us and them safe so bring home a meal from a favorite place once in a while.
Also now may be a good time to make sure others have what they need as well, after all we are all in this together people and fighting something together is so much better than alone. if you are still getting out to the stores and you see an item there is only one of think about how much you need that item, maybe leave it for someone else who may need it more If you know someone that shouldn’t be going out get a few things for them as well. Ask around, are people looking for something they cannot find, if you see it , pick it up for them.
I talked with a young mommy to be yesterday, scared she won’t find formula if she needs it, fear is a terrible thing but not quite as frightening if you have your tribe beside you!
In these troubled times it is natural that our fight or flight senses kick in but ask yourselves what kind of people we want to be and what do we want to teach our children.
The second thing I wanted to talk about are some things we can do to stay healthy and happy in the weeks to come. Cook garlic with your meals, not only for flavor but because it is antiviral, antibacterial and anti-fungal. You can mince garlic and add it to anything.  Another great one is fresh ginger, like garlic there are numerous studies showing its health benefits. AND if you haven’t been able to find Vitamin C don’t panic, remember it is also in our citrus fruits along with broccoli, sweet potatoes and so many other fresh fruits and vegetables. And standing in the sun for 10 minutes can naturally boost our Vitamin D and our mood! Get plenty of sleep, laugh, practice yoga or meditation even 30 minutes make a difference. If you feel sick call your doctor. We love you Siouxland and remember we are all on this mystical, magical journey together so be kind to one another.
