The Wild Unknown Animal Spirit Oracle Deck by Kim Krans
This morning I was startled awake by my alarm, like most days. Immediately upon waking and turning of my alarm, the image of a turtle popped into my head. I thought, "Huh, that's kind of weird...I better go get in the shower, or I'll be late." I went about my morning routine without giving the reptilian image another thought. While dropping off my kids at daycare, my son's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle DVD was playing in the background. Again, I did not dwell on this much because my son ALWAYS watches his TMNT DVD in the van. Finally on my way to work, the image of the turtle popped into my head again, and this time I got the very clear feeling that it was not moving. I decided that it was time for me to reflect on the image of the turtle. I searched my Wild Unknown Animal Spirit deck for the turtle card, and sure enough, this was the image that clearly popped into my head upon waking up. I asked, "Okay Mr. Turtle, what message do you have for me?" I instantly got the feeling that it was time to come out of my shell. While anyone who knows me knows I'm not exactly shy when it comes to meeting new people, I do often wear my spiritual shroud rather tightly. I do not speak of my beliefs and practices very openly. I often don't speak of my divination or Reiki practices, not because I'm ashamed, but because it's sometimes easier than answering all the questions. I knew that turtle was calling me to stop hiding behind the safety of what I know and to start finding the courage to explore this new spiritual "home" in which I'm currently residing, and while our shells provide us protection from those who wish us harm, it also allows us to sever meaningful connections with people, animals, and spirit around us. If you're seeing this post today, consider this your invitation from turtle to stop hiding behind the safety of your shell and venture out on a new adventure. Meet people, try something new, or simply own who you are to those around you. While you may not end up with pizza-scarfing-Shredder-kicking-sewer-dwelling super powers like Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, or Michelangelo, you're sure to kick butt at whatever you do because you dared to venture out of your shell.
